Folio
Here is a selection of some of my work.
Code for this website
Two features I created for this website are:
| 1) |
The side navigation is created from an xml document. This means it can be
updated by merely changing the xml file rather than touching the C# code.
|
| 2) |
My resume exists as a resume object read from an xml file. The beauty of this
feature is that I can update both of my resumes (see here
and here) by simply updating a single xml file. I
also use this object to produce other versions of my resume, such as the
Microsoft Word version.
|
The code for these features, together with my nUnits, can be found
here. (zip file - 218K).
seek.com Front End Work
While at seek.com, I either wrote or worked on almost all of its pages.
Sometimes this involved writing the HTML, sometimes designing the look and
feel, sometimes designing and cutting the code. The two main seek.com sites can
be seen at http://seek.com.au and
http://seek.co.nz.
seek.com Cobrands
During my early years at seek.com, I managed the end-to-end production of the
co-branded sites for seek.com’s partners, Yahoo, Optus Communications, Telstra,
NineMSN and XtraMSN. Two of these cobrands can be seen at
http://ninemsn.seek.com.au and
http://xtramsn.seek.co.nz
seek.com Alliances
Several years ago, I led the seek.com Alliance Top Bar project. This role
included writing the proposal to Business Development, designing and coding the
solution and leading a developer. I delivered the project on time and with an
82% pass rate in testing. Two examples of alliance sites are the
aol alliance and the
bandt alliance.
seek.com Organisation Profile Pages
While at seek.com, I converted the organisation profile pages from ASP to
ASP.Net, including designing and cutting the code and writing the nUnits. Three
examples of this work can be seen at
http://seek.com.au/if.asp?loc=ep,
http://seek.co.nz/if.asp?loc=ec and
http://ninemsn.seek.com.au/if.asp?loc=orgprofiles.
Tristate login
While at seek.com I designed and coded the tri-state login box – a
javascript/C# based web control which enabled the user to login, register or be
resent their password. To see this control:
1) Perform a
jobsearch on seek.com.
2) Select a job to view.
3) The tristate login box can be seen at the bottom of the ad deatils page.
Validation Javascript
While at seek.com I coded one javascript which I particularly like. The
javascript leverages off ASP.Net validation scripts and changes the background
colour of input boxes when validation errors occur in them. The see this
javascript in action:
1) Go to the seek.com advertiser
registration page.
2) Press the submit button without entering any data in the input boxes.
3) The input boxes will change to a pinky-red colour. This is caused by my
javascript.
Process improvement - Speeding up the uploader
While at seek.com, I devised a method to speed up our deployment tool. When it
was implemented, it cut the time of every production and test deployment by
over 50%. This process improvement saved around 3 hrs from every production
site outage deployment.
The document I wrote to gain resources for this proposal can be seen
here (Word - 30k).
