Resume

Key Abilities and examples

Below is a list, with examples, of my strengths.

 Ability to develop applications
Working with a colleague from seek.com, I produced the graphic design and initial architecture and code for a site which allowed people to find and give recommendations on tradespeople.
 -  while working as a Web Developer at David R Collett Enterprises

Working with another developer, we designed, estimated and implemented a solution to allow the seek.com cookie to be persisted across all of the seek domains. I also designed and estimated the redevelopment of the seek.com myseek area in .NET
 -  while working as a Web Developer at seek.com

As an individual I recoded the seek.com organisation profiles in .Net. This involved requirements gathering, designing and implementing the solution and supporting the project through testing.
 -  while working as a Web Developer at seek.com

Working as a developer on the JobMail project - a rewrite of the job search email application in .Net - I wrote C# code, nUnits, captured requirements from a developer perspective to assist the BA and ensured the applications compliance with RFC 2822.
 -  while working as a Web Developer at seek.com

When the above JobMail project was running late due to the time it would have taken to test the project, I volunteered to create two tools to enhance the rate at which the testers could test it. I developed two C# applications (Speedy Tester and Speedy Ad Converter) which saved 8 weeks of test time on the 4 month project and brought the project in on time.
 -  while working as a Web Developer at seek.com

Working as a developer in the Linking Out project, I designed and implemented the presentation layer structure of the jobseeker side of the seek sites, developed the user controls for the newly built pages, constructed the bridge between the old jobsearch pages and the new job apply pages, built a three state login box in javascript and DHTML, and deployed the project. My parts of the project were delivered on time, had an 80% “first time through test” pass rate in testing and cut the length of the following project by 2 months.
 -  while working as a Web Developer at seek.com

I worked as a developer on the Healthcare project - a project that created a healthcare job search and jobmail. Before I came on to this business critical project, it was falling behind schedule. When placed on this team, I saw that we would not make our deadlines with our current solution. I devised an alternate solution, lobbied for its implementation and obtained the extra resources necessary to complete the project. Once the main Healthcare site had been deployed, I built and deployed the remaining cobrand and NZ Healthcare sites. On my performance appraisal that year, my team lead wrote, "In fact, I think Dave was almost the sole reasons that Healthcare and Healthcare NZ were deployed on time."
 -  while working as a Web Developer at seek.com

Working as the presentation layer developer, I wrote the presentation layer of seek.com site in ASP.Net. This involved collaborating with the Architect and Developers to develop user and custom controls, writing the front end ASP.NET code, writing the javascript library, “bodging” the old ASP parts of the site to make them look like the new code, and configuring the newly built framework.
 -  while working as a Snr Interaction Designer/ Web Developer at seek.com

I produced seek.com co-branded sites for Yahoo, Optus Communications, Telstra, NineMSN and XtraMSN. These involved recoding the seek.com site to alter its appearance. After becoming known as the “cobrand man”, I wrote extensive documentation which allowed others to create these sites without assistance.
 -  while working as a Snr Interaction Designer/ Web Developer at seek.com

I developed the seek.com intranet from layouts provided by the designer using a combination of HTML, Javascript and ASP.
 -  while working as a Interaction Designer at seek.com

Working with HR and Customer Service, I produced applications to improve seek.com's internal processes including a database-driven leave application system, a database-driven tile booking system, and email-driven production request forms.
 -  while working as a Interaction Designer at seek.com

 -  while working as a Web Programmer/Desktop Publisher/IT Support at Advertising Energy
